My name is Brad Short, I am a 24 year old professional parkour athlete/coach/SAG-Aftra stuntman. I am certified by the World Freerunning and Parkour Federation as a Parkour/Freerunning Coach. Throughout most of my childhood and adolescent years I spent a lot of time participating in BMX racing with The National Bicycle League and competed on the expert level. I raced BMX until I reached the age of 14, when I randomly stumbled across a Youtube video of David Belle which sparked my interest in Parkour. I began my journey with parkour at the age of 14 after watching this video online of David Belle leaping between buildings and achieving incredible physical feats. After watching this video, I knew that this activity would be what I would dedicate myself to.
I saw Parkour as an ultimate test on human potential, pushing the envelope in all categories of physical, mental, and emotional fitness. At the age of 15 I quickly understood that in order to really develop my skills in parkour I would need an extensive background in fitness, so I read every book I could get my hands on concerning anatomy, fitness, and kinesiology that I could find. I began a disciplined workout regime to begin seeing results in my parkour performance and never missed a day of attention towards my craft. After 5 long years of self development, study and practice I began coaching others who were interested in learning parkour. I went to Florida Atlantic University from 2009-2012 for Exercise Science and have been coaching Parkour & Fitness in the Boca Raton/Palm Beach/Broward county area since 2011.
In 2014 I had the opportunity to be a speaker at TEDxBocaRaton with my speech titled “Finding Your Intuition Through Movement.”
